How to Increase Google Page Rank

How to Increase Google Page Rank

Page rank is one of those Internet marketing terms that
Google has made famous. Let's take a look at what Google
Page Rank is and how you can increase it.

First of all Page Rank is a value that Google assigns to a
web page based on the importance of the page. It is
determined by the number of incoming links to that web page
and few other factors including the page rank of the page
giving the link to you.

There has been discussion recently asked to the importance
of page rank. However one thing to consider is this, if
Google thinks page rank is important than page rank is
important.

Remember Google gets over 65% of all the search traffic on
the Internet every day. The bottom line is the higher your
page rank the more chance you have to be ranked above
similar pages with a lower PR than yours.

So how can you increase your page rank?

1. First of all you can increase the number of links you
have pointing back to your website. This fact alone can
increase your link popularity and ultimately increase your
page rank. Combined with that is the fact that the more
back links you have pointing back your website for more
potential traffic you will get from it.

2. Not only do you want to increase the number of links you
have pointing back your website, but you want to get your
website URL on high quality pages. This means getting your
link on pages that are ranked as high or higher than yours.
When you do this some of their page rank can be transferred
to you which ultimately helps increase the page rank of
your site.

There are lots of ways to increase your page rank, but the
most common methods are posting in discussion forums that
have a high page rank, article marketing, submitting your
site to directories, commenting on blogs and distributing
press releases.

As well as getting links to your home page you should also
use deep linking. Deep linking means linking to internal
pages on your website as opposed to always linking to your
homepage.

There are other ways you can increase your page rank, but
any time you are working on getting backlinks you have the
potential to increase your page rank!

It is also worth bearing in mind that the Google Page Rank
displayed on the Google Tool bar is always out of date.
Although Google is always internally updating the page rank
of web pages, the toolbar page rank is only updated every
few months.

Be aware that just because a page has a PR0, it doesn't
necessarily mean that you don't want to spend time getting
your link on that page. The page rank could increase on the
next toolbar update.

Finally, remember that page rank on its own does not
necessarily equate to traffic. You also want to ensure that
you have chosen good keyword phrases and have optimized
your website.

eBay Seller? Don't Spoil It For Yourself

eBay Seller? Don't Spoil It For Yourself

As part of increasing your eBay knowledge and becoming a
successful seller, it is often beneficial to understand the
bidding philosophy from the point of view of the buyer.
Even on an auction website, perception is everything and if
the prospective bidder does not feel comfortable they will
then have a reason not to bid on your item. Unfortunately,
a major reason for sellers not succeeding is a lack of
effort leading to others to profit from your mistakes.

Don't leave yourself open to a tactic used by clever buyers
that can be defended against quite easily.  The general
advice to any seller is to have items that have good
pictures, clear descriptions and a user friendly experience
to ensure the buyer is given maximum confidence to buy from
you. A great service will boost your feedback rating and
therefore other bidders will be more likely to bid on one
of your future items.

But what if you are lazy and offer an item for sale that
has no picture, one line of description together with a
very low feedback score or none at all? Ask yourself who
would bid on an auction item that has been presented in
this way. Well, you maybe surprised but some do. A savvy
bidder could take a calculated risk and bid anyway thinking
that the seller does not really know what they are doing
and would be happy to accept any bid as until then, with
the poor presentation and low feedback score, your auction
item has been ignored.

The bidder may submit a bid for a very small amount and
actually win as there was no minimum bid placed on the
auction. It may be hard to believe but there are people on
eBay who make good money from winning auctions like these.
You ask yourself why they do this. It is because they have
identified a demand for a product and have found your
auction that is very poorly presented with a low feedback
score and thus everyone else has avoided you like the
plague. No-one is willing to risk doing business with you
even though you may well be the most trusted person on the
planet. On eBay, perceptions count and an auction presented
like this will never be successful for you.

The savvy buyer will then take attractive pictures of the
item, write an enticing description and then offer it again
on eBay for a much higher price. Prospective bidders will
search for such an item and find it. And as it has been
presented very well the bids will start to flood in and the
profit will go into the new seller's pocket rather than
yours and you will have lost out. All it takes is a little
bit of effort to ensure your item is the one that catches
the attention of the prospective bidder and entice them to
start the bidding. Once others see the activity it is only
human nature for them to start bidding as well. Just a
little bit of effort has transformed your fortunes from
selling an item to the only bidder for a very low price to
selling the same item after a flurry of bids from hungry
would be buyers.

Making Passive Income Online

Making Passive Income Online
Want to make passive income online?  I sure do.

My goal has been to build up my passive income online over
the last couple of years.  I have done this very slowly,
working here and there at it because I already have a full
time day job.  Now some people will argue that the income
is not truly passive because I am working hard to build it
up.

This is a valid point but it I would still argue that the
end result is mostly passive.  At this point, I get a check
each month for a little over $300 dollars and I only need
about a half an hour a day to maintain that level of
income.  So no, the money is not truly passive but it is
darn close.

Now what gets even more exciting is that this level of
income is growing.  I used to only make about $100 dollars
per month from my online ventures and before that it was
even less.  And yet I continue to work for about a half an
hour each day in order to produce that income.  If I want
to grow this income further I have to spend extra time but
I can always revert back to a half an hour per day and
still have the checks keep rolling in.

The exciting part about all this is that within about two
or three years (possibly even less) that $300 dollars per
month will have grown to around $1,500 per month and that
is well within what I need to make a modest living from.  I
currently have no dependents and I'm also working 40 hours
per week so having that kind of extra income would be very
powerful indeed.  Once I reach such a point with my passive
income streams then I would likely quit my day job and
focus exclusively online.

Now this might sound far from "passive" but believe me, it
is much easier to work for an hour per day from home than
it is to commute and put in 40 hours per week plus.  The
truly amazing part will be when my online income starts to
exceed my day job income.  Like I said I project that this
point will be in about 3 years at the most.

So how do I make this passive income online?  There are a
number of different strategies but I mainly stick to
building up my search engine traffic and monetizing via
Google Adsense.  There are other ways to do it but this has
been fairly successful for me and it seems to scale quite
well.

Think about this: if you can make a website like I did that
is pulling in 300 dollars per month in passive income, what
is to stop you from making a dozen such websites?  That is
the power of the internet - it is all about scale.  You can
take an idea that is working for you and duplicate it in
other areas.  This is part of my current strategy and I
have a few more websites in the works right now to try and
target some new keywords.

So if you want to make passive income online then my
suggestion is to start up a website or even a free blog and
start cranking out a few articles.  The real challenge is
of course in building links to your website and that is
where the real money is at.  If you can get others to link
to you then you win.  You will make passive income.  Simple
as that.

Does Your Website Stand up to Design?

Does Your Website Stand up to Design?
I received my copy of The Net Effect this month... by the
way, if you do not receive this magazine -- GET IT.  It
will change the way you view the web, SEO and online
marketing.  It is one of the only magazines I actually read
cover to cover each month, but I digress! Interestingly,
one of the very first articles I ever read in the magazine
was entitled "It's Your Eyes that Buy!" Funny, if you do
not believe that to be true, ask your wife! When was the
last time she truly needed that third pair of black heels?
Retailers have been dominating this theory for years...
online is no different.

Research shows that we have only seconds to make a positive
impression upon our viewers. If they don't like what they
see -- maybe it's too busy, too complicated or what we
commonly refer to as "analysis paralysis" -- they will
leave your site and, quite frankly, never come back.

The design of your site (or even your blog) can help with
lead capture as well as lead conversion. Here are five
things to keep in mind when designing your site... and if
you're not looking to design a site, ask yourself if your
current website does this.  If not, you may be looking to
redesign your site shortly!

1. Give information to people in bite-sized pieces.
Research shows that if you not only group like items
together, but also group them into bite-sized pieces, our
brains can process the information more easily.

2. Direct people where you want them to go with buttons,
shapes and colors. That is why we use a specific format for
all of our CTA (call to action) buttons.

3. Product pictures, CTAs and all other buttons should be
consistently sized.

4. Use shading and other textures within the design to
guide the visitor's eyes. Texture can also make harsh
colors softer on the eyes.

5. Keep colors and fonts consistent throughout the site.

Those first few seconds when your potential customer visits
your site are all you get to make a good impression, so
make it count!  "Good visual information design makes smart
use of Consistency, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity,"
according to The Net Effect.

Use these five steps to make sure you are getting the most
out of your website.  Like I said, you have only seconds to
make a positive impression upon your viewers. Make sure you
do it!

Formatting Your Autoresponder Messages for Clarity and Attention

Formatting Your Autoresponder Messages for Clarity and Attention
When preparing an article for distribution for use in as
part of an autoresponder series, there is more to consider
than mere content. Of course, good grammar and punctuation
are necessary for your email to make a good impression on
your audience. However, even the details of how you format
your article are important.

The Character Count

The character count is important. What I mean is how many
letter and number and spaces are on each line. Each email
program and computer is different. If you use seventy five
characters per line but the person who receives it has a
program that only shows seventy character per line then
they will get a broken up message. Those five extra
characters will get kicked to a new line all by themselves.
Then the viewer sees a line of seventy followed by five
followed by seventy. You get the picture and have probably
gotten emails like it. The best way to avoid this mess is
to limit your lines to sixty to sixty five characters.

Font Style

Font style is equally important. Standards are not the
best. The standards like New Times Roman and Aria fonts
have variable width to each character. An I for example is
not as wide as a W. This can also wind up with character
kicked to the next line and ruining the look for you
messages. You need to choose a fixed character with font.
Choose a ten point size. Fixed width fonts are sometimes
called monospace fonts. These fonts include type faces such
as Courier and Letter Gothic. You would use Courier 12 size
to get exactly ten characters per line.

Do Not Rely on Your Email Program to Wrap Text

It is often over looked but letting your program wrap you
text for you could ruin the look of the email. Instead hit
enter, a hard return, after each sixty to sixty five
characters. Use Microsoft Word to compose your messages. It
has a view at the bottom that displays what line and
character number you are on. You can also use a guide at
the top but be sure to remove it once you are finished
before you save and send your message.

Saving Your Message

When you save your message you should either save it in
plain text or Rich Text Format as these will work and be
viewed correctly on any computer but other files may not
be. Rich Text Format will allow you to save and use bold
and italics where as the plain text will not. Use save as
and in the drop down menu you can select the file type to
save your message as.

Ways to Make Your Messages More Effective

Try to use a catchy title as the subject. Most people read
the subject and decide to delete or open right then. If you
do not use a good subject line then your email may be
deleted as junk or even routed directly to junk mail by
their email host. Think of what you delete as spam and
avoid those kinds of subject lines. Instead try to make the
subject line seem more personal.
