Public Domain Books: How to Use Them for Creating an Income
Old books in the public domain can be a great source of
inspiration and suitable content for producing new material
such as CD's, DVD's or ebooks. What's more... and even
better than this, is that if you use a public domain book
you can take the whole thing if you wish and recreate it
into your very own.

Just scan the pages and any illustrations into your
computer, edit the wording if you want to and bring the
language up to date for modern readers. Hey Presto you have
created a product for yourself, one that you can sell and
make a fantastic income from on a recurring basis, for life
if you want to.

One of the easiest ways to find old books especially those
in the Public Domain, is to have a browse around local
second hand book stores or at jumble sales, boot fairs,
craft markets etc.

However another good place to look would be on ebay, using
their search facility for antiquarian books and also the
illustrated section of the books for sale area.

All books from pre 1923 if from the USA will be found to be
in the public domain and therefore available for you to use
and recreate as your very own. Books authored prior to
seventy years since year end of the death of the original
author in the United Kingdom are also in the Public Domain
and yours for the taking to recreate as you see fit.

There are specialist sites such as Project gutenberg, at
www.gutenberg.org where you can browse massive databases in
order to find a book of your choice in almost any Niche
that you can think of.

Q) What do I need to produce my own eBook from the public
domain?

A) You will not need many materials in order to produce
your own modern ebook or any other product from the public
domain.

As long as you have a computer with a scanner and printer
you should be OK.

However if you are going to reproduce the book onto CD for
regular sale then it would be wise to have a good software
programme for turning your ebook into a CD version on a
regular basis. Naturally if you want to sell your new
product as a direct download ebook then you will need a PDF
writing programme on your computer.

The best known one of these is Adobe writer, but there are
a large amount of very cheap or even free to use PDF
writing/ converting programmes available. I use one called
Docudesk and it is extremely reliable and simplicity itself
to use.

You only need to convert your book once and it is instantly
ready for your customers to download as many thousands of
times as you require. You can then sell it or give it away
freely as an incentive to purchase another one of your more
expensive products.

TO SUM UP THEREFORE!

1) Decide in what Niche Market you want be, then obtain
your Old Book for this Market.

2) Go out and research for your products. Really simple all
you have to do normally is browse around second hand
bookshops, jumble stalls, boot fairs etc.

3) Buy your book, making sure that it is public domain
material. IE: Normally older than 1923 in the USA or more
than 70 years from the end of year of the death of the
original author in the UK.

4) Re create your book using your computer scanner or by
taking the pages to a photocopy shop or local printers and
ask them to copy every single page in its entirety for you.

5) Scan the pages into your computer using a notepad or
word file in order that you can make any alterations you
desire.

6) Add in any illustrations wherever you see fit.

7) Change the title if you want to and even add your name
as the author.

8) Your newly created old book from the Public Domain is
now ready for you to market to the world and make money for
you.

To market your book you can advertise it on places such as
amazon, ebay, or even better join clickbank and sell it as
an instant download item. Anything at all that you do to
get your book known to the world at large will help you to
make fantastic money every time someone purchases from you,
for a very long period into the future.

For instance you could promote your digital ebook or even a
printed version of it, by using social bookmarking sites or
creating a blog for yourself.

You should also consider using article marketing sites so
that you can write reviews and articles which normally
allow you to mention your products at the end of the
article.

You can usually have two links to your products or to the
website's which you use to promote them. These links are
allowed in a special box, (commonly known as a resource
box) which immediately follows your article.

Other methods of advertising your Old Books would be on the
pay per click sites such as google adwords, but these can
be expensive if you don't know what you are doing and I
recommend sticking to the free methods, at least until you
have gotten a few sales and some experience under your belt.

Are eBooks Better Than Physical Books?

Are eBooks Better Than Physical Books?
To be honest I love all books. I really think there is a
place in every home for a selection of hard cover and paper
back books. They can look great in a bookcase and can often
hold sentimental value for the owner.

Having said that, I do believe that eBooks are the way of
the future and there are many reasons why they are
preferable to the traditional book with paper pages.

From an authors perspective there are many benefits. An
eBook can be produced in a short period of time, sometimes
just a week os so whereas most paper books can take up to a
year before they reach the shelves of book stores. Once the
eBook is finished it can be distributed to thousands of
customers in a very short period of time. While I do agree
that to have your book produced in a physical form can add
credibility to you as an author there are many highly
respected eBook authors providing quality products online
today. Of course, there is always the option available to
turn your eBook into a physical book.

From a sellers point of view, eBooks are a dream product.
As long as you have rights to resell the book, whether it
be resale rights, master resale rights or private label
rights, you can sell the same copy over and over again.
With private label rights (PLR) you can actually claim to
be the author making any changes you like to the text or
the graphics. Some authors will allow you to rebrand their
books with your own links potentially making it extremely
viral.

From a buyers perspective eBooks can be obtained far
quicker than paper books. No more having to go to a book
store or waiting for the postman to arrive. In some cases
the eBook is delivered as an attachment directly to you via
email. Many sellers will send you to a download page where
more often than not you can not only download your book but
a number of bonus items as well making your purchase
greater value.

Many authors will capture your details during the buying
process. This enables them to provide you, usually free of
charge, any updated versions of their product. I've not
seen this practice with any physical books.

Some people don't like to read eBooks on their computer
screen and would rather have a physical book that they can
carry around with them or snuggle up with on the lounge on
a rainy day. Well you can still do this with eBooks. All
you need is an eBook reader or some sort of portable media
device. Depending on the size of its memory they can often
hold thousands of books.

When you think about it, eBooks are far better in terms of
the impact on the environment. Yeah sure, some people will
still print them off but the majority will simply store
them on their computers or portable media.

For some people, myself included, eBooks have made reading
a pleasure. I personally suffer from an eye condition
called Keratoconus. I love to read but it can often be a
struggle if the pages are not backlit like on a computer
screen or a pda or some such media. So there's another
reason many people will choose eBooks.

I hope this gives you some insight into why I believe
eBooks are better than physical books, at least, most of
the time.

Google Adwords Top Tips - Part 2

Google Adwords Top Tips - Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of this 5 part series on Google
Adwords.Google AdWords is one of the best advertising tools
on the Internet, but only if you know how to implement
Adwords properly to achieve maximum potential. So here are
the next ten tips to ensure that you get the best possible
results from using Google Adwords.

1. Organise your campaigns by topic

You don't want to have your health supplements in with your
running shoes now do you? Each campaign should be for a
unique topic. If you sell one type of product then keep to
one campaign unless there is a good reason to do otherwise.
It will be easier to manage this way.

2. Target the right languages and locations

I see this mistake over and over again. You run an ad that
is selling blue widgets and you want to target the ad to
the folks in Kentucky, then what happens? Because you have
your settings wrong, Mr Wong goes onto Google China and
sees your ad for Blue widgets.

You have targeted the wrong country, and the wrong language!

3. Make sure your Ad Groups are highly specific

As with your campaigns, each and every ad group should be
aimed at a unique product or service. Example: Campaign 1 -
Omega 3 Supplements Ad Groups - FISH OIL - all keywords
relating to fish oil EPA - all keywords relating to EPA
(the most important ingredient of fish oil) OMEGA 3 - All
keywords relating to Omega-3 MIXED - Mixed terms relating
to all above If you are very serious about maximising your
profits and really giving AdWords good shot, you will need
to do this for every product or service that you are
advertising. Keep it organised, clean and laser targeted!

4. Optimise all of your Ad including your URL

Let's say for example you were selling golf clubs.
Think about which URL looks better:
www.sportsshop.com/asp.369£0-/lop0-9823309877654/4/a/0
98665 or SportsShop.com/GolfClubs

You also need to remember that the ad copy is what is going
to make people click through, so make sure it is keyword
rich and appealing In a display URL on AdWords, the domain
name (www.sportsshop.com) must exist, but the extension
(/golfclubs) does not need to exist, so use it as another
opportunity to state your keywords and tell your users that
you have a whole section on this topic.

5. Avoid your home page as your landing page

The landing page is the page that the person who clicked on
your ad will see when they come through to your site. Don't
use your homepage as your landing page unless it deals only
with selling the product you're advertising. For instance,
if you're selling posters, have a landing page for 'flower'
posters and a landing page for 'car'. You can even go one
better and have a landing page for each poster - so you'll
have a page for 'sunflower posters' and 'bmw 5 series
posters'.

Land people in the relevant place.

6. Track conversions

This could actually be the biggest key to helping you
increase your AdWord profits, if you don't know which words
are turning into conversions then you are on a loser right
from the word go! Just because an ad has a high CTR doesn't
mean that it is making you money! How would you know if you
are not tracking it? You can use Google's own conversion
tracking codes, or you can use your own software. Use
Googles as it will be easier! You need to know which
keywords are performing so you can put more money there and
switch off words that are not getting you conversions and
are wasting your money.

7. Work out your cost per sale

Why is this important? If it is costing you $20 to gain a
sale and the profit on that sale is only $15, then you are
losing money! Tracking your cost per sale is easy if you
have the Google tracking code inserted on your site as
Google work this out for you and display the result in the
cost/conversion box on your account.

8. Don't enter into bidding wars

It is easy to get into bidding wars with your competitors.
You want to be number one and so does your competitor. The
best thing to do is to take a step back, ten deep breaths
and consider how important it really is to be in the number
one spot. If you can justify it, fine but otherwise: let
your competitor be number one, sit in the number two slot
and wait. If you have a better product, your click-through
rate will get you to the top - and you'll still be paying
the same as you were in the second position.

More and more people are using automated bidding software.
This software will update at a set interval to keep the ad
in the desired position. Doing battle with this kind of
software is even more frustrating and less rewarding than
trying to outbid a competitor. Bidding software that
targets a certain position can waste a lot of money. You
can be cleverer than that by working out your ROI and
therefore your optimum bid price.

9. Use GeoTargeting for local campaigns

If you are running an Ad Campaign targeting certain
geographical areas for example 'golf course repairs in
Florida', make sure you use the GeoTargeting option. This
will save you a lot of money on useless clicks and help
speed your progress toward successful conversions and,
ultimately, sales.

10. Double-up when GeoTargeting

When running GeoTargeting, always mirror the campaign with
a non-GeoTargeted equivalent with place names in the
keywords. For example, for a Manchester-based IT company,
run 'IT Company' as a keyword in a campaign targeted to
Manchester, and run a country-wide campaign including the
keyword 'IT Company Manchester'.
